About Us
Ballygown National School is a rural school in the parish of Killavullen, in north Cork. We have a proud tradition of fostering a caring and inclusive environment, where our pupils are safe, happy and supported. We have a high standard of academic achievement, but we value the need of every child to get a holistic education, with a wide variety of talents and interests nurtured and developed.
The enrolment of Ballygown School has increased steadily over the years and we now have 119 pupils, along with five classroom teachers and two full-time Special Education teachers. Our Board of Management and staff, with wonderful support from the Parents’ Association, have made massive efforts to ensure the very best facilities for all our pupils. We are extremely fortunate to have a well-equipped, spacious school, with impressive grounds and a large play area. We have a large General Purposes Hall and two playing pitches, as well as a basketball court.
We strive to ensure that every pupil reaches their full potential. We offer a high level of support for all our pupils. We recognise that many children have extra needs and some require special care and support. We are fortunate to have a wonderful team of SNAs and the recent provision of a sensory room and a sensory trail is a huge boost to our efforts.
Everyone in the school community works in a spirit of cooperation and partnership. Our pupils, parents, staff and Board of Management all contribute in a joint effort to be the best school that we can be. Ballygown abú!
